cPanel Details

cPanel is the Users Control Panel for the web hosting account it allows you (the customer) to change and add many great features for your hosting account.

Below is a description of some of the features that you can use in your cPanel, Please note that this is not a complete list of features available in cPanel.

Email: From this section you can add and remove email address you can also setup redirects, filters, autoresponders, create a default email address and more.

Webmail: From this section you can choose to view your emails from a web bassed client similar to hotmail instead of from a client on your machine such as outlook express.

Change Password: From this section you can change your password that you use to enter your cPanel account, you will not be able to use a password that is based on a dictionary word.

FTP Manager: From this section you can create Main and Subdomain FTP accounts, Setup Anonymous FTP Access, change the Anonymous FTP Message and manage FTP Session Control.

File Manager: From this section you can upload and download files to your hosting account without the need for ftp, you can also create new files and folders from here.

Disk Usage: From this section you can the files and folders that are stored on your hosting account and see the total size in bytes for each file or folder.

Backup: From this section you can download or upload a full site backup or you can download or upload a Home Directory backup, you can also back and restore your MySQL Databases.

Password Protect Directories: From this section you can select directories on your hosting account that you want to be protected by username and password.

Error Pages: From this section you can create custom error pages that will be displayed when a user enters a wrong URL, an outdated URL or when the user is not authorized.

Sub Domains: From this section you can create Sub Domains for your hosting account, for example you can create forum.yourdomain.co.uk or similar names.

MySQL Databases: From this section you can create MySQL Databases to use on your web hosting account, you can also access phpMyAdmin from here.

Redirects: This section allows you to Redirect visitors to another sites or page, for example from http://www.yoursite.co.uk/page1.htm to http://www.yoursite.co.uk/page2.htm.

FrontPage Extensions: This section allows you to front page extensions for your account, it is not recomended that you do this unless you intend to publish from FrontPage.

Web/FTP Stats: This section allows you to view statistics for your web hosting account, such as total visitors, Error Logs, Sub Domain stats bandwidth graphs and much more.

Search Engine Submit: This section allows you to submit your site to a number of search engines such as alltheweb, google, lycos and others.

Cron Jobs: This section allows you to create Cron Jobs, these are jobs that are run automaticaly at times specified by you, such as a databases backup script at 4am.

Hotlink Protection: This section allows you to setup Hotlink Protection on your site so that other sites on the internet cannot link to your files directly and steal your bandwidth..

Fantastico: This section allows you to install lots of popular scripts such as Bloggs, Forums, Guestbooks, Polls and much much more. See HERE for more details on Fantastico.
